The Woman’s Club of White Stone is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion of educational, cultural, and philanthropic objectives, as well as the physical welfare of its members and the community at large. The club was organized in 1928 and has been at its current home at 560 Chesapeake Drive in White Stone, Virginia, since 1936. Our membership of approximately fifty women consists of both active and honorary members and is drawn from the Northern Neck and surrounding areas. Meetings are held year-round on the first Wednesday of the month, and annual dues of $35 per member contribute to our operation and programs. Our business meeting begins at 10 a.m., followed by a program and brown bag lunch that is supplemented by beverages and dessert provided by the club.
Members of the Woman’s Club of White Stone work together to give service to our local community by supporting projects, which both meet area needs and address the diverse interests of our members. Through our involvement, we find means for self-expression, grow intellectually, and build enduring friendships. We welcome new members, and those interested in membership are invited to attend a regularly scheduled meeting as a guest, if they wish, prior to submitting an application for membership.

Our Club building is an excellent site for meetings, parties, and similar functions. We are happy to rent it to interested parties on a half-day or full-day basis. In addition to our spacious common room, we offer a large, fully functional kitchen and mens’ and ladies’ restrooms. To speak to a Club representative about availability, rates, and requirements, please leave a message on our main line, 804-435-2180, and our representative will be in touch.
In addition to our monthly membership meetings, the club also offers a number of ongoing and special events over the course of the year. Proceeds from these events allow us to present as many as six or more scholarships each year to Lancaster County students who are attending Rappahannock Community College. These events include:
Mah Jongg – Players meet on Mondays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the club for an afternoon of games, snacks, and fun. Classes for beginners may be offered, as well, from time to time, as circumstances allow. Information about forthcoming classes will be posted here.
Game Days – Typically twice a year, the club will sponsor themed game days in which players enjoy a luncheon, prizes, and an afternoon of good-natured rivalry. Game days are planned to include players from outside the club, as well as our regular players. Game days this year will be held on September 25, 2024, and in June, 2025.
Annual Chili Sale – Each year in February, the club has a pre-Super Bowl Sunday sale of delicious homemade chili produced from our special Woman’s Club recipe. In early 2025, pre-orders will be taken with chili available for pick up on February 7 and 8. Be sure to reserve yours so you can relax and watch the game with a steaming bowl of chili!
Ye Olde Curiosity and Bake Shoppe – All year long the club accepts gifts of new and gently used items to be sold at our Curiosity Shoppe, a three-day, indoor sale at the club that offers a wide variety of goods at bargain prices to the community, plus hand-painted tree ornaments, jewelry, and other handcrafted items made by our members. In addition, our Bake Shoppe sets quite a spread of homemade breads, cakes, pies, and cookies to tempt your palate. The 2024 event takes place on Thursday, November 14, from 2 until 7 p.m.; Friday, November 15, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.; and Saturday, November 16, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Scroll down to view a few of the lovely items we will be offering at this year’s event. |
